JUNO Award-nominated pop rockers
Marianas
Trench and
Carly Rae
Jepsen are returning to Halifax to perform at the Alderney
Landing Events Plaza on Friday, July 13 at 6 p.m.
Breaking through with
Masterpiece Theatre in 2009, Marianas Trench returned
in 2011 with their follow up
Ever After. Clocking in
at just under an hour, the 12-song disc is constructed around a story written by
frontman Josh Ramsay and includes the singles
“Fallout” and
“Haven’t Had Enough.”Since its
release,
Masterpiece Theatre has received platinum-certification in
Canada and taken home multiple awards, including a MuchMusic Video Award for the
video
“Cross My Heart.” Released on November 21, 2011,
Ever After has already been certified gold.
Crafted with her
long-time collaborator, writer-producer Ryan Stewarts, Jepsen’s
Curiosity includes the hit single
“Call Me
Maybe,” which she wrote with Marianas Trench singer Josh Ramsay. Since
the single’s release, she has been signed to Justin Bieber’s manager’s label
Schoolboy Records in the U.S., performed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, had over
50 million YouTube views and started touring the world.
Vancouver-based
Jepsen released her debut
Tug of War in 2008 after
becoming a finalist on “Canadian Idol.” She was nominated for a MuchMusic Video
Award, a 2010 JUNO Award and had two singles receive gold certification. The
title track beat out the likes of Nickelback to win the 2010 Canadian Radio
Music Award for
Song of the Year.
